BE Reflective: Be Celebratory, Be Joyful — 2024 Year In Review

🌟 Year In Review! 🌟 

I don’t know about you, but 2024 has been quite the year. Filled with expansions + pivots, ups + downs, balance + alignment … or

~ balignment ~

Which was my 2024 Word of the Year. Pssst: I also have one for birthday. My 39th words were —

~ listen + let go ~

While reflecting upon the peaks + valleys of 2024, I’d say we did just that! Here is my Year In Review: 

1. January: make my biz even more official by filing it as an LLC, and later with 2 DBA’s within — BE Career Development + Rochester Shops Local

2. February: my husband, local author Dan Leicht, + I celebrated our 1st Valentine’s Day as hubby + wife!

3. March: in honor of Women’s History Month, I had the joy of facilitating an empowering workshop, “Self + Confidence,” at The Homemade HQ … Rochester, NY’s premier micro-event venue within Historic Corn Hill! 

4. April: delivered my 1st Corporate Speech for DisruptHR ROC!! This researched + champions Self-Care at Work … with an AI Twist! 

5. May: in preparation for my 1st Corporate Training, I practiced, practiced, practiced … and the hubs helped

6. June: facilitated this Corporate Training at Pro-ROC Rochester’s annual Talent Acquisition Conference — they are our local affiliate to the National Human Resources Association

7. July: what I haven’t yet told you is that back in March, I began listening to the whispers of the universe (see August) + as a Former Teacher, Forever Educator: heeded my call to again work with students. (I refuse to charge students for my coaching services.) A full on job search began in March, with SUNY interviews commencing as early as April … come July, I landed my DREAM ROLE with SUNY Empire State University + began on 7/25/24!!!

8. August: as previously alluded to, I had the immense honor of being interviewed by Good Life Project founder, Jonathan Fields, for the SPARKED Podcast. We discussed my career pivots, listening to “the whispers of the universe,” and why I am so grateful to be with SUNY Empire

9. September: talk about #locallove! I was published in local magazine, Home, for their “Women Run” Issue. Here, I discussed Personal Banding. I also had the privilege of presenting at at Nazareth University's Alumni Awards

10. October: We hosted a party at The Homemade HQ!!! Thank You for YOU to all of the amazing clients + coaches who have welcomed me into their worlds, and who helped make BECD a smashing success within her 1st year. Thank you also to Jen Geiger of the ACCES-VR Rochester, NY office for inviting me to deliver a Keynote Speech at the NDEAM Awards. Here, I shared the superpowers of (and stigmas related to) my own invisible disabilities. (This is after traveling 2x in 1 month for Empire State Conferences, which I adored + learned so much from!) 

11. November: This was also an abundant month! It began with Student Con for SUNY Empire, followed by a family trip to a gorgeous Nor Cal wedding, followed-up by managing a Job Fair (my 1st time!) in support of Veterans + Military Families through —SUNY Empire * breathes *—and ended with a Corporate Training on Personal Branding for Broadstone Net Lease’s Women's Group … all before Thanksgiving! (Which of course was followed by an abundance of #ShopLocal love support.) 

12. December: Found a fabulous new business accountant (thank you Chris & Jake from ESL who referred me!) And just a few days ago, on Christmas Day, I reached my 5 month anniversary with Empire State University!! In my short time with SUNY Empire thus far, and with the incredible team our Career Services Director has nourished, we have nearly doubled last year’s internship numbers, offsetting barriers often associated with unpaid internships. Feeling so fulfilled + joyful!!!

🌟 Oh! And my mama beat uterine cancer amidst all of this!!!!! Thank God she caught it in Stage 1: women, let’s stay proactive about our health 🌟
